Staff Profile: Emily van Sebille channels her passion for AP Seminar

I wanted to focus on both Emily van Sebille's teaching style and how she impacts the students, but also on the lesser-known class that she teaches: AP Seminar. This class teaches students vital research and presentation skills, increasing their overall media literacy. I was able to showcase both the reasons for taking the class and how her teaching style makes it a positive environment for students.

Staff Profile: Rosa Pissani Medina incorporates culture into the classroom

Staff profiles are a good way to highlight impactful teachers at Carlmont. I wanted to focus on Rosa Pissani because she is the only Spanish III Honors teacher at Carlmont, and thus plays an instrumental role in students' language development before AP Spanish. It was interesting to learn more about her Peruvian cultural background and the significant positive influence this has on her teaching style.

Carlmont community unites for the blood drive

The blood drive is an important Carlmont event that really brings the community together for a good cause. There are many reasons people need blood donations, and this drive is a helpful step towards accomplishing this, so I wanted to cover the event to bring more attention to this topic and some of the people positively contributing to the school.

Collegeboard announces changes to AP tests

In this article, I wanted to focus on changes to AP tests because I know that they will affect many students at Carlmont. Additionally, the move to digital tests for both AP courses and SATs is a very new development in this new digital age.
